Regardless of which provider you pick — YouTube Live, Zoom or Google Meet — every live class shares the same set of settings underneath. These sit below the provider cards when scheduling a session.
Session Details
- Session Title (required)
- Start Time (required), shown in your organization's timezone
- End Time (optional)
- Description — a full rich-text editor
- Max Participants (optional)
Assign to Batches
Assign to Batches (Optional) restricts the session to specific student groups — assign it to only the Morning Batch, for instance, rather than every enrolled student.
Leave it unassigned and the session applies course-wide.
Attendance Tracking
Count Attendance — Automatically track student attendance when they join the live class. Students who don't join will be marked absent when the session ends.
Ticking this reveals a second setting most guides miss entirely:
Grace Period (minutes) — Students who join within this time after the session starts will be marked as "Present". After this, they'll be marked as "Late". Defaults to 15, adjustable from 0 to 120.
Attendance here has three outcomes, not two. Join within the grace period and you are Present. Join after it but still show up and you are Late. Never join and you are Absent once the session ends. A student arriving 20 minutes into a class with a 15-minute grace period is not marked absent — they are marked Late, which is a meaningfully different signal if you are reviewing attendance patterns afterward.
Set the grace period to match how strict you actually want to be — 0 minutes marks anyone even a second late as Late, while a longer window tolerates the ordinary lag of students joining a link.
Educational Classification
Educational Classification (Optional) maps the session to your curriculum — Education Level, Group, Subject, Chapter and Topic — the same hierarchy selector used across the platform. This does not affect the class itself; it only affects how the session is filed for reporting and search later.
Putting It Together
These settings apply the same way no matter which streaming provider is selected above them, which is why they are worth understanding once rather than per-provider:
- Fill in Session Details.
- Assign to Batches if this class is not for everyone.
- Enable Count Attendance and set the Grace Period if you want it tracked automatically.
- Add Educational Classification so the session is findable later.
- Announce to students, ticked by default, notifies everyone who can see the content.
